The chapel was initially frescoed with works by Pietro Antonio Novelli. In 1728 these were replaced by reliefs and marble sculptures depicting the life of the saint.
The reliefs, five on each side, are alternated with pilasters and surrounded by a frame: they illustrate various episodes of the life of the saint, founder of the Benedictine order.
The altar is dominated by a large composition whose theme is the Glory of St. Benedict, work of the sculptor Ignazio Marabitti, from Palermo (1719-1797).
It represents the saint who is taken to heaven by a group of angels and who turns his ecstatic gaze towards the triangle with the tetragrammaton representing God.
